The method includes the following steps of selecting tilapia mossambica which is bred to a sexual mature period before overwintering, wherein male parent fishes and female parent fishes are selected out; putting the selected parent fishes into water at the temperature of 20-25 DEG C, after 5-15 days of intensive breeding, lowering the water temperature by 0.1-0.2 DEG C per hour, carrying out observation once every 2-3 hours, and removing the parent fishes with low vitality; after the water temperature is lowered to 15-16 DEG C, raising the water temperature by 0.2-0.4 DEG C per hour until the water temperature is 20-25 DEG C; separately feeding the male parent fishes and the female parent fishes in the water at the temperature of 20-25 DEG C for overwintering. The survival rate of tilapia mossambica during overwintering can be increased, and farmers' losses caused by overwintering of tilapia mossambica are reduced.
