A method, non-transitory machine-readable medium, and data processing system for providing a flexible decision-making system for autonomous driving are described. The system may include a framework that allows the decision-making system to switch between a deliberate rule-based decision-making framework and an intuitive machine learning model-based decision-making framework. The system can invoke the appropriate framework (or subsystem) based on a set of specific driving conditions or circumstances. Accordingly, the system described in this paper can provide an efficient and adaptive decision-making system for autonomous driving.
