Problems solved by technology

If diagnosed early, GDM can be treated; however, because GDM can be outwardly asymptomatic, it often goes undetected until traditional tests (such as blood glucose levels) are performed after the onset of the second or third trimester of pregnancy

[0065] Example 1: Use of the plasminogen activator inhibitor 2 (PAI-2) biochemical marker for determining pregnancy Case-control study of risk of gestational diabetes in individuals

[0066] This example demonstrates the use of the PAI-2 biochemical marker for determining the risk of GDM in pregnant individuals.

[0067] Retrospective case-control study using residual first trimester maternal plasma samples. The dataset includes 449 control samples and 30 GDM outcome cases. The PAI-2 biochemical marker from these samples was measured using a sandwich immunoassay kit.

[0068] For the analyzes described herein, measurements were converted to multiples of the median (MoM) by considering the gestational age, maternal weight, and smoking status of the pregnant individual associated with each plasma sample.

[0069] Such as figure 1 The PAI-2 median multiple (MoM) box-and-whisker plot 100 in the control pregnancy outcome group and the gestational diabetes pregnancy outcome ...

[0075] Example 2: Use of Soluble TNF Receptor 1 (sTNFR1) Biochemical Marker for Determining Gestational Period in Pregnant Individuals Diabetes Risk Case-Control Study

[0076] This example demonstrates the use of the sTNFR1 biochemical marker for determining the risk of GDM in pregnant individuals.

[0077] A second retrospective case-control study was performed using residual first trimester maternal plasma samples as described in relation to the case-control study in Example 1 above. The sTNFR1 biochemical marker from these samples was measured using a sandwich immunoassay kit.

[0078] For the analyzes described herein, measurements were converted to multiples of the median (MoM) by considering the gestational age, maternal weight, and smoking status of the pregnant individual associated with each plasma sample.

[0079] Calculation of the sTNFRl median multiple (MoM) in the control pregnancy outcome group and the gestational diabetes pregnancy outcome group determine...

Abstract

The invention relates to a system and method for predicting risk of diabetes based on biochemical marker analysis. The method includes measuring one or more biochemical markers in a blood sample obtained from a pregnant individual to determine one or more biomarker levels, wherein the one or more measured biochemical markers includes at least one of PAI-2 and sTNFR1, identifying a difference between the measured biomarker level and a corresponding predetermined control level for each of the one or more measured biochemical markers, and responsive to the identification, determining a predictioncorresponding to a relative risk of the pregnant individual having or developing GDM.

Description

[0001] This application is a divisional application of an invention patent application with an application date of February 26, 2014, an application number of 201480012817.9, and an invention title of "System and Method for Determining Diabetes Risk Based on Biochemical Marker Analysis". [0002] related application [0003] This application claims U.S. Application Serial No. 13 / 836,256, filed March 15, 2013, entitled "System and Method for Determining Risk of Diabetes Basedon Biochemical Marker Analysis" rights and priorities of the number, the contents of which are hereby incorporated by reference in their entirety. technical field [0004] The present application relates to systems and methods for determining risk of diabetes based on analysis of biochemical markers. Background technique [0005] Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) affects approximately 5%-12% of pregnant women. Without treatment, the effects of GDM can be severe for both mother and child. Mothers wit...
