The vehicle electronic tag comprises a microwave communication unit, a main control unit, a card reading unit, and a SIMcard unit. The main control unit is separately connected to the microwave communication unit and the card reading unit. The card reading unit is connected to the SIM card unit. An ETC account is pre-established in the SIM card. The payment method comprises steps that: the microwave communication unit receives a deduction instruction when the vehicle passes an ETC lane, and sends the deduction instruction to the main control unit; the main control unit sends a deduction amount corresponding to the deduction instruction to the card reading unit; the card reading unit communicates with the SIM card unit to read the ETC account in the SIM card, and deducts money from the ETC account according to the deduction amount.
