Embodiment Construction

[0020] Such as figure 1 As shown, the receiving housing 10 has a protective cover 12 in which the terminals 11 are located. The shield 12 has an end face 12A including an inclined face 14 and an end face 13 . The edge 15 is located between the bevel 14 and the end face 13 .

[0021] Such as figure 2 As shown, the mating housing 20 accommodates the terminal 21 in the terminal cavity 22, and the terminal 21 is fully inserted into the cavity 22 so that the engaging portion 32 of the retainer 30 is closely adjacent to the engaging portion 25 of the terminal 21, thereby clamping it in its locked or fully inserted position. The bottom plate 33 of the holder 30 is substantially coplanar with the inner peripheral surface 12B of the boot 12 .

[0022] A holder mounting hole 24 is provided in the mating housing 20 to accommodate a holder 30 having a hole 31 to allow introduction of the terminal 21 . In the locked position, the spearhead 23 engages a complementary portion of the t...

Abstract

A connector assembly has a receiving housing, a mating housing and a retainer. The mating housing is inserted into the receiving housing and held in an engaged position by the retainer. However, if one or more electrical terminals are not fully inserted into their locked positions within the cavities in the mating housing, the retainer is held in a temporary position where a portion thereof protrudes outwardly from the mating housing. This portion engages the end face of the receiving housing. This end face is preferably perpendicular to the insertion direction or at an acute angle. As a result, even if an excessive insertion force is applied to the mating housing and / or the retainer, the receiving housing is not deformed.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a connector, in particular to an assembly part of the connector. Background technique [0002] exist Figure 9 The middle table shows a typical prior art connector with the female terminal 3 only partially inserted into the housing 1 . The housing 1 is adapted to fit inside a protective cover 5 mounted on or part of a male housing (not shown). The cage 2 supports a projection bent towards the bevel 6 on the end face of the shield 5 . A spearhead 4 is fixed to or integral with the housing 1 and is used to lock the terminal 3 in place after it has been fully inserted into the cavity. Such as Figure 9 As shown, since the female terminal 3 has not been fully inserted into the housing 1, it still cannot work. [0003] However, since the lead-in edge of the shield 5 has a bevel 6, even if the female terminal 3 is not properly inserted into its cavity, the application of insertion force will deform the shield 5 outwards allowing t...
