Embodiment Construction

[0018] The following disclosure describes the invention in terms of several embodiments directed to methods, systems and apparatus related to intelligent editing of images. The techniques described herein are generally capable of editing the results produced by any kind of image processing algorithm. These techniques do not require the user to actively draw, edit, or manipulate structures (such as points, lines, outlines, surfaces, etc.) by using standard input devices (such as a mouse or touch stylus), but instead guide users through simple Flow, a simple workflow that presents a series of options prepared on-the-fly based on the user's current state.

[0019] The "smart editing" technique preferably fits the workflow into an interventional setting where a clinician (referred to herein as a "user") typically operates on a patient in a sterile environment, And do not have access to traditional image processing tools used to perform image processing tasks segmentation and edit...

Abstract

The invention relates to smart editing of image-processing result. A computer-implemented method for editing image processing results includes performing one or more image processing tasks on an inputimage using an iterative editing process. The iterative editing process is executed until receiving a user exit request. Each iteration of the iterative editing process comprises using a first machine learning model to generate a plurality of processed images. Each processed image corresponds to a distinct set of processing parameters. The iterative editing process further comprises presenting the plurality of processed images to a user on a display and receiving a user response comprising (i) an indication of acceptance of one or more of the processed images, (ii) an indication of rejectionof all of the processed images, or (iii) the user exit request. Following the iterative editing process clinical tasks are performed using at least one of the processed images generated immediately prior to receiving the user exit request.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention generally relates to methods, systems and apparatus for editing imaging processing results by using machine learning techniques. The techniques described herein can be applied, for example, to processing medical images in clinical and interventional settings. Background technique [0002] Medical image processing tasks such as detection, classification, segmentation and registration are an integrated part of image post-processing workstations. When a user has to perform some kind of resulting editing, he / she typically uses an input device (such as a mouse or a stylus) to draw / redraw an outline or remove / drag an outline to complete the editing task. [0003] In a busy clinical workflow, it is not always possible to perform detailed and lengthy edits. For example: in an interventional setting with a sterile environment, it is not always possible to perform editing in a similar manner to that on a post-processing workstation. Typi...
