Abstract

A method and apparatus for synchronization in side link communications are disclosed. In one embodiment, a method for performing side link communications, the method comprising: determining, by a first wireless communication node, whether a second synchronization timing with at least one second wireless communication node is to be established, wherein the first wireless communication node and theat least one second wireless communication node form a side link communication group; in response to determining that the second synchronization timing is to be established, transmitting a first message based on a first synchronization timing to the at least one second wireless communication node, wherein the first message indicates a synchronization message which is configured to provide the second synchronization timing to the at least one second wireless communication node; and transmitting the synchronization message using a predefined side link synchronization resource to the at least onesecond wireless communication node.
