Problems solved by technology

[0006] Although various approaches exist to characterize the performance of a fluid delivery system and correlate expected performance with actual performance in terms of fluid flow rate and delivered volume, these approaches do not address in a comprehensive manner due to fluid delivery system impedance and / or capacity The resulting difference between expected performance and actual performance
Therefore, existing methods do not address fluid underdelivery or overdelivery due to system impedance and / or volume
Thus, less than optimal injection boluses or volumes may result in and / or operation of the fluid delivery system may result in a relatively large amount of wasted fluid

Abstract

A method of delivering a multi-phase fluid injection to a patient via a fluid injector comprising two or more syringes includes injecting a first fluid of the fluid injection from at least a first syringe at a first predetermined flow rate, wherein the first fluid has a first viscosity; injecting an initial portion of a second fluid from at least a second syringe at an intermediate flow rate different than a second predetermined flow rate for a specified time, the second fluid having a second viscosity different from the first viscosity; and injecting a remaining portion of the second fluid ofthe fluid injection at a flow rate at the second predetermined flow rate. A fluid injector system configured for delivering a multi-phase fluid injection is disclosed.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims priority to U.S. Provisional Patent Application No. 62 / 552,494, filed August 31, 2017, entitled "System and Method Having Transition phase in Multi-Phase Injection Protocol," the disclosure of which is incorporated herein in its entirety. technical field [0003] The present disclosure generally relates to systems and methods of controlling fluid injectors. More particularly, the present disclosure relates to systems and methods of controlling a fluid injector employing a multi-stage injection scheme with transition stages. Background technique [0004] During many medical diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, a medical practitioner, such as a physician, administers one or more medical fluids to a patient. In recent years, a number of fluid delivery systems have been developed that have injector-actuated syringes and fluid injectors for fluids such as contrast solutions (often referred to simp...
