Abstract

A method for activating a pre-adaptation system of a passenger compartment of a vehicle (20) includes monitoring an operating state of the vehicle (20), wherein the vehicle (20) is turned on when theoperating state corresponds to a first state, the vehicle (20) is turned off when the operating state corresponds to a second state, and the operating state corresponds to the second state; and monitoring a plurality of conditions (2), wherein the plurality of conditions (2) are selected from the group consisting of a current time and date, a driver reservation schedule, a historical database, andthe monitoring step is performed by a system controller contained in the vehicle (20). The method further comprises determining a maximum possible departure time of the vehicle (20) from the currentposition based on the plurality of conditions monitored by the system controller, advising the departure time (2) to the driver, monitoring a reply from the driver, setting a timer (5) for activatingthe pre-adaptation in dependence on the reply from the driver, and activating a sleep mode (8) of the vehicle (20) system.
