Abstract

The invention discloses an in-situ flow information telemetry (iFIT) capability confirming method and device. The method comprises the steps that a first network device sends a request message to a second network device or a network management device, wherein the request message is used for requesting to confirm whether the second network device has the iFIT capability; and the first network device receives a confirmation message sent by the second network device or network management equipment, wherein the confirmation message comprises confirmation information for confirming whether the iFIT capability exists or not. The method can ensure that the data message including the iFIT information is sent to the second network device only when the second network device has the iFIT capability, so the problem of packet loss caused by the fact that the network equipment does not have the iFIT capability is solved.
