Abstract

The invention relates to network operation for updating user equipment parameters. A network component may perform a User Equipment (UE) parameter update (UPU) procedure or a Roaming Steering (SoR) procedure for a UE. The network component determines an updated parameter of the UE; starting a timer, wherein the timer expires after a predetermined time period; performing integrity protection on the updated parameters; when the timer expires before an ACK is received from a UE or when the UE camps on a second AMF, the integrity-protected updated parameter and an acknowledgement (ACK) request indicator are transmitted to an access and mobility management function (AMF) of a core network, and the integrity-protected updated parameter and ACK request indicator are re-transmitted to the AMF.
