Abstract

A flow metering insert (10) for an instillation chamber (50) is provided that is suitable for intravenous administration. The insert includes: a main liquid flow channel having an inlet, an outlet, and a flow blocking channel between the inlet and the outlet; and the flow indicating channel is communicated with the main liquid flow channel between the inlet and the flow blocking channel. The flow blocking channel provides resistance to the flow of the liquid such that the liquid is forced into the flow indicating channel and to a height proportional to the flow rate of the liquid through the main liquid flow channel.
