Problems solved by technology

For another example, the atrial LP may falsely detect a message causing the atrial LP to pace the right atrium at a much higher rate than the ventricular LP paces the right ventricle, resulting in asynchronous pacing

Embodiment Construction

[0025] Certain embodiments of the present technology relate to implantable medical devices (IMDs) and methods of use thereof that reduce the frequency and / or impact of receiving false messages at the IMD. Such embodiments are particularly useful for, but are not limited to use with, systems including one or more leadless cardiac pacemakers. Before providing additional details of specific embodiments of the technology mentioned above, reference will first be made to Figure 1-Figure 5 An exemplary system in which embodiments of the present technology may be used is described. More specifically, Figure 1-Figure 5 will be used to describe an exemplary cardiac pacing system in which the pacing and sensing operations may be performed by a plurality of medical devices, which may include one or more leadless cardiac pacemakers, ICDs such as subcutaneous ICDs (S -ICD)), and / or a programmer to reliably and safely coordinate pacing and / or sensing operations. A leadless cardiac pacem...

Abstract

Implantable medical devices (IMD) described herein and methods for use thereof described herein reduce the frequency of the IMD accepting false messages and / or reduce the adverse effects of the IMD accepting false messages. Such IMD may be a leadless pacemaker (LP) or an implantable cardiac defibrillator (ICD), but not limited thereto. Such embodiments may be used to assist multiple IMDs (e.g., multiple LPs) implanted within the same patient in maintaining synchronized operation, such as synchronized multi-chamber pacing.

Description

technical field [0001] Embodiments described herein relate generally to methods and systems for providing and improving communication between implantable medical devices, one or more of which may be leadless cardiac pacemakers. [0002] priority claim [0003] This application claims priority to U.S. Provisional Patent Application No. 62 / 907,396, filed September 27, 2019, and U.S. Nonprovisional Patent Application Nos. 17 / 022,774 and 17 / 022,994, filed September 16, 2020, which The application is hereby incorporated by reference in its entirety. Background technique [0004] Implantable medical devices and systems often depend on proper communication for proper operation. For example, in a dual-chamber leadless pacemaker system, implant-to-implant (i2i) communication is critical for proper synchronization and operation of the system. However, noise can cause one or more devices of such a system to falsely detect i2i messages and respond inappropriately to them. As a more ...
