AI Technical Summary

Benefits of technology

This technology helps reduce costs while still capturing accurate geophysical measurements without requiring long baseline waves. It also corrects errors introduced during signal transmission due to stratification layers along fault lines, resulting in more precise analysis compared to previous methods such as reflection tomography (RT). Additionally, this technique improves accuracy when used over large areas where there may be many reflectors between them. Overall, it provides an effective way to study underground oil deposits efficiently and effectively through various techniques like surface migration imagery (SMO) scans.

Problems solved by technology

This patented technical solution describes how to determine if two waves are different from each other due to their own directionality (their arrival time). By performing null-phase analysis at specific points along one line called the boundary layer, we found out whether these waves were caused by physical processes like fault movement or geology activity. To solve this issue, researchers have developed various numerical algorithms such as finite element simulations, spectral decomposition, etc., to accurately analyze both seismics data and calculate the best way to process them.
