Performing actions identified in recognized speech

A computer is used to perform recorded actions. The computer receives recorded spoken utterances of actions. The computer then performs speech recognition on the recorded spoken utterances to generate texts of the actions. The computer then parses the texts to determine properties of the actions. After parsing the texts, permits the user to indicate that the user has reviewed one or more actions. The computer then automatically carries out the actions indicated as having been reviewed by the user.

Integrated computer security management system and method

The present invention is generally directed to a computer security management system that integrates a firewall with an intrusion detection system (IDS). In other words, the firewall and IDS of the present invention can be designed to communicate process or status information and packets with one another. The present invention can facilitate centralized control of the firewall and the IDS and can increase the speed at which packets are passed between a secured computer network and an external network. Increased packet processing speed can be achieved in several ways. For example, the firewall and IDS can process packets in series, in parallel, and sometimes singularly when one of the components is not permitted to process a packet. Alternatively, singular processing can also be performed when one component is permitted to pass a packet to the secured computer network without checking with the other component.

Efficient backups using dynamically shared storage pools in peer-to-peer networks

A system for efficient backups using dynamically shared storage pools in peer-to-peer networks comprises one or more processors and memory coupled to the processors. The memory stores instructions executable by the processors to implement a backup manager configured to dynamically subdivide a storage pool into one or more portions of storage currently designated for local backup data and one or more portions of storage currently designated for peer-to-peer (P2P) backup data. In response to local backup data received from a backup client, the backup manager may store the local backup data in a portion of the storage pool that is currently designated for local backup data. The backup manager may then generate a P2P version of the local backup data, e.g., by encrypting and / or redundancy encoding the local backup data, and transmit parts of the P2P version to each of one or more peer devices in the P2P network.

Method and system for determining presence of probable error or fraud in a data set by linking common data values or elements

A method of detecting fraudulent or erroneous data from a transaction data set is provided. A first transaction record having a plurality of key values is selected from a transaction record database. One of the key values is selected from the selected transaction record. The transaction record database is then queried for transaction records having the selected key value. A second database is compiled of transaction records that contain the selected key value. At least one other key value is then selected from the originally selected transaction record, and the transaction record database is again queried for transaction records also having the second key value. The results of the fist, second and any subsequent queries are added to a second or a suspect transaction database. Then, using the uncovered records, the transaction database is queried for the use of key values common to the uncovered set of transactions to see if additional records are suspect. A list of queried key values is maintained to prevent the unnecessary or redundant use of the same query of the transactions. Risk coefficients of levels of fraud or mistake are assigned to the transaction records which have one or more common key values to the records uncovered as a consequence of the database queries.

Virtual machine data replication

Disclosed is a method and system for selectively restoring file-level data from a disk image backup. In embodiments, a virtual machine backup may be performed by dividing a virtual machine virtual disk file into a plurality of discrete fixed-sized data blocks sharing a common index file that is stored on a backup medium, such as a hard drive, to form a backup set. Upon restoration of data from the backup set, individual blocks of the data set are compared to corresponding blocks of the target virtual machine file. Redundant data and unchanged blocks are skipped, and only those block which have changed are restored to the target file. In this manner network bandwidth and processor resources are conserved, and replication times decreased.

Tissue ablation device and method of use

A tissue ablation device creates long linear lesions along a body space wall of an animal, and primarily between adjacent pulmonary vein ostia in a left atrial wall. An ablation element includes first and second ends that are bordered by first and second anchors. The anchors are adapted to secure the ablation element ends at predetermined first and second locations along the body space wall such that the ablation element is adapted to ablate an elongate region of tissue between those locations. The anchors may be guidewire tracking members, each including a bore adapted to receive and track over a guidewire, and may anchor within adjacent pulmonary vein ostia when the engaged guidewires are positioned within the respective veins. Stop members may be provided on the guidewires and may be adapted for positioning the relative anchors or for forcing the anchors to fit snugly within the vein ostia. A conduit passageway through the catheter houses a stiffening stylet which may be advanced into the region of the ablation element in order to impart a shape to that element to conform it to a predetermined region of anatomy, or to stiffen the underlying catheter in order to advance the assembly into remote anatomy.

Method and apparatus for update step in video coding using motion compensated temporal filtering

The present invention provides a method and module for performing the update operation in motion compensated temporal filtering for video coding. The update operation is performed according to coding blocks in the prediction residue frame. Depending on macroblock mode in the prediction step, a coding block can have different sizes. Macroblock modes are used to specify how a macroblock is segmented into blocks. In the prediction step, the reverse direction of the motion vectors is used directly as an update motion vector and therefore no motion vector derivation process is performed. Motion vectors that significantly deviate from their neighboring motion vectors are considered not reliable and excluded from the update step. An adaptive filter is used in interpolating the prediction residue block for the update operation. The adaptive filter is an adaptive combination of a short filter and a long filter.

Systems and Methods for On-Aircraft Composite Repair Using Double Vacuum Debulking

An in-situ double vacuum debulk (DVD) composite repair system designed to produce partially or fully cured autoclave-quality hot-bond composite repairs on contoured structures. The system provides vacuum pressure for hot bond repairs to be performed on flat and contoured structures using one set-up capable of debulking (partially curing) and then fully curing composite repairs on composite and metallic aircraft structures. The use of in-situ DVD also eliminates handling of the patch / adhesive when transferring from an off-aircraft DVD chamber to the repair site on the aircraft. This can increase the probability of successful repairs because the possibility of contaminating and misaligning the adhesive and repair patch are eliminated.
