A system for efficient backups using dynamically shared storage pools in peer-to-peer networks comprises one or more processors and memory coupled to the processors. The memory stores instructions executable by the processors to implement a backup manager configured to dynamically subdivide a storage pool into one or more portions of storage currently designated for local backup data and one or more portions of storage currently designated for peer-to-peer (P2P) backup data. In response to local backup data received from a backup client, the backup manager may store the local backup data in a portion of the storage pool that is currently designated for local backup data. The backup manager may then generate a P2P version of the local backup data, e.g., by encrypting and/or redundancy encoding the local backup data, and transmit parts of the P2P version to each of one or more peer devices in the P2P network.

Disclosed is a method and system for selectively restoring file-level data from a disk image backup. In embodiments, a virtual machine backup may be performed by dividing a virtual machine virtual disk file into a plurality of discrete fixed-sized data blocks sharing a common index file that is stored on a backup medium, such as a hard drive, to form a backup set. Upon restoration of data from the backup set, individual blocks of the data set are compared to corresponding blocks of the target virtual machine file. Redundant data and unchanged blocks are skipped, and only those block which have changed are restored to the target file. In this manner network bandwidth and processor resources are conserved, and replication times decreased.

A tissue ablation device creates long linear lesions along a body space wall of an animal, and primarily between adjacent pulmonary vein ostia in a left atrial wall. The sample port is in fluid communication with a tissue cassette having attached thereto a filter. The apparatus is configured such that the application of pressure directs the cell fragments from the cell sample through the cell flow pathway, and effects delivery of the reagents through the reagent flow pathway. A liquid or partially liquid phase process for isomerizing a non-equilibrium mixture of xylenes and ethylbenzene uses a zeolitic catalyst system preferably based on zeolite beta and on pentasil-type zeolite. The invention obtains an improved yield of para-xylene from the mixture relative to prior art processes in a more economical manner. A preferred beta zeolite is a surface-modified zeolite beta resulting from acid washing of a templated native zeolite at conditions insufficient to effect bulk dealumination. The present invention provides a method and module for performing the update operation in motion compensated temporal filtering for video coding. The update operation is performed according to coding blocks in the prediction residue frame. Depending on macroblock mode in the prediction step, a coding block can have different sizes. Macroblock modes are used to specify how a macroblock is segmented into blocks. In the prediction step, the reverse direction of the motion vectors is used directly as an update motion vector and therefore no motion vector derivation process is performed. Motion vectors that significantly deviate from their neighboring motion vectors are considered not reliable and excluded from the update step. An adaptive filter is used in interpolating the prediction residue block for the update operation. The adaptive filter is an adaptive combination of a short filter and a long filter.

A dry cleaning method for use in semiconductor fabrication, including the following steps. An etched metallization structure is provided and placed in a processing chamber. The etched metallization structure is cleaned by introducing a fluorine containing gas/oxygen containing gas mixture into the processing chamber proximate the etched metallization structure without the use of a downstream microwave while applying a magnetic field proximate the etched metallization structure and maintaining a pressure of less than about 50 millitorr within the processing chamber for a predetermined time.

Additionally, the service daemon instructs the plurality of nodal members to create vectors and obtain vector configuration from the database. The service daemon processes results data transmitted from the nodal members to the database.

A method and an apparatus are proposed for simultaneously coating the inner walls of a plurality of hollow containers, such as bottles, with fluid-impermeable barrier layers applied by a PECVD method with the use of transversal antennas capable of creating plasma having density increased in the vicinity of the inner walls of the containers. The barrier-layer application period is divided into a coating period and a noncoating cooling period, with RF energy constantly maintained under working conditions with shunting thereof from the coating station to the dummy loads during noncoating periods used for cooling the plastic containers. The apparatus comprises a vacuum chamber with a conveyor that transports the containers in a preoriented state for interaction with a plurality of aligning elements that can be inserted into the container openings for subsequent fixation at equal distances in positions aligned with the antennas that can be inserted into the containers for generation of the coating-applying plasma.

A LED decorative lighting structure comprises a plurality of LEDS. Each LED has two electric conductor blades which being directly made by cutting down from a strip of the same material. An in-situ double vacuum debulk (DVD) composite repair system designed to produce partially or fully cured autoclave-quality hot-bond composite repairs on contoured structures. The system provides vacuum pressure for hot bond repairs to be performed on flat and contoured structures using one set-up capable of debulking (partially curing) and then fully curing composite repairs on composite and metallic aircraft structures. The use of in-situ DVD also eliminates handling of the patch/adhesive when transferring from an off-aircraft DVD chamber to the repair site on the aircraft. This can increase the probability of successful repairs because the possibility of contaminating and misaligning the adhesive and repair patch are eliminated.

The screen retention mechanism includes a structural frame mounted to a vibratory separator into which a plurality of lightweight and flexible screen elements are inserted into multiple tows of perforated screen supports. The perforated screen supports are bonded to the structural frame and are aligned parallel to the direction in which solids are conveyed by a vibratory motion. The invention further features an improved retention mechanism whereby screen elements are conveniently and selectively restrained.

The method in one embodiment involves delivering a sequence of test audio signals corresponding to natural sound segments to a non-acoustic input of a programmable hearing device in-situ, while allowing the consumer to adjust fitting parameters based perceptual assessment of hearing device output. The sound segments define a fitting soundscape within the normal human auditory range, with each sound segment corresponding to one or more fitting parameters of the programmable hearing device. The consumer is instructed to listen to the output of the in-situ hearing device and adjust controls related to corresponding fitting parameters. In one embodiment, the fitting system comprises a personal computer and a handheld device providing calibrated test audio signals and programming interface. The systems and methods allow home dispensing of hearing devices without requiring specialized instruments.

The Automated Bill Presentment and Payment system is an information and payment processing system which enables secure electronic processing of invoices and payments between parties who do not have an existing electronic business or payment relationship (e.g. bank direct debit) and who cannot, or prefer not to, use electronic means (internet or telephonic credit card) for payments. It utilises existing physical infrastructure (ATMs or call centres) and payment processing highways for presenting invoices and making payments. It increases the privacy, reliability and security of payments while reducing the cost of processing invoices and payments by eliminating the mailing and processing of invoices and cheques as well as the registration of credit card information through telephone operators or automated telephone answering systems.
