A method for encoding volumetric video content representing a 3D scene is disclosed. The method includes obtaining a reference viewing frame and an intermediate viewing frame defined within the 3D scene. For the reference viewing bounding box, volumetric video reference sub-content is encoded as a center picture and peripheral tiles for disparity. For the intermediate viewing bounding box, the volume video intermediate sub-content is encoded as an intermediate center tile that is the difference between the intermediate center image and the reference center image.
