Abstract

An improved rating plug housing (10) for a circuit breaker having an electronic trip unit. The rating plug housing (10) has a series of protruding tabs (14) on the bottom of the housing (10). The trip unit housing (50) forms part of the circuit breaker housing. The trip unit housing (50) includes a recess (52) for receiving the plug housing (10). If the rating plug mates with a given trip unit, the tab (14) and castellation tab (54) will not interfere and can be inserted. If the rating plug does not fit a given trip unit, the tab (14) and castellation (54) will interfere and insertion will not be possible. The tab (14) or protrusion (53) can be removed from the housing (10) or recess (52) using a hand tool.
