Embodiment Construction

[0015] Referring to FIG. 1, a general system is provided through which independent mobile palmtop terminals 46 (also called PDAs) can be connected to their respective POP servers 56. The mobile terminal 46 transmits / receives to / from a wireless terminal receiver 52 via an antenna 47, and the receiver 52 is connected to a POP server 56 via a wireless local area network (LAN) 51. It should be noted that the term personal palmtop device is used to broadly cover all types of palmtop devices. These include cellular phones and related wireless devices, smart phones and Internet screen phones.

[0016] Alternatively, the palm-type terminal 46 need not be mobile. It can directly connect to the POP server 56 through the PDA modem as described above. Since the device is a multi-mail environment, the POP server also sends a copy of all received E-mails to a replacement client terminal designated by the user. In this case, the terminal is a desktop computer terminal 57. This desktop terminal i...

Abstract

Disclosed is an electronic mail distribution system for network, such as internet, and E-mail through a POP (Post Office Protocol) server where the E-mail goes directly to a palm-type terminal and also to a matching or corresponding terminal, such as desktop computer. There are means in the palm-type display terminal for communicating with said other user designated display terminal to coordinate the processing of said same downloaded electronic mail. Since the POP server must download as soon as possible to the palm-type terminal and desktop terminal, the communication to the corresponding desktop computer must quicken the download. So that, the corresponding or user designated terminal must response to the palm-type terminal communication device for coordinating the processing of said same downloaded electronic mail.

Description

Technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a computer-managed communication network, such as the World Wide Web (Web), and in particular to electronic mail (E-Mail) messages transmitted to a palm-sized display terminal via, for example, a network. Background technique [0002] The last ten years are considered to be the ten years of technological innovation driven by the convergence of the data processing industry and the consumer electronics industry. The impact of this has in turn promoted the development of technologies that have been known and available for many years, but are relatively silent. The main one of these technologies is file distribution related to the Internet or the Web (World Wide Web). The Web or the Internet, which have existed peacefully for a long time, as a loose academic and government data distribution facility, reached a "critical number" and began a period of significant expansion. With this expansion, businesses and consumers can already...
