[0029] Description of the preferred embodiment

[0030] Referring to FIG. 2 , it shows a micro-mobility network to which the routing update method according to the present invention is applied. In the network shown, routers R are connected in a tree-like connection, an external network is connected to one of the routers in the highest layer of the network, and a wireless base station BS is connected to each router R in the lowest layer. The router R and the radio base station BS are connected to each other via not-shown transmission equipment. Mobile terminals MT transmit and receive data via radio base stations BS. The mobile terminal MT and the radio base station are connected to each other via not shown transmission equipment.

[0031] When n represents the number of immediately subordinate routers accommodated (the number of subordinate network interfaces) per router, n immediately subordinate routers are numbered 1 to n. For example, among all routers, if it is assumed...

Abstract

The invention provides a route updating method which reduces the flow rate of updating notifications, which are circulated in a network, to improve the scalability. A micromobility network includes routers connected in a tree connection and radio base stations connected to the routers in the lowest layer such that an updating notification of a route from a mobile terminal is repeated in order from a radio base station to successive higher order routers to update the route and a packet is distributed along the updated route. In the mobility network, directly lower order routers to each router are numbered to the numbers 1 to n with reference to the direct lower order router accommodation number n, and a route from the radio base station to the router in the highest layer represented by a route number composed of the numbers of the thus numbered routers is applied to the radio base station. Upon updating notification, the route number is referred to to determine a stage number m of a transmission range and the updating notification is transmitted to a higher order router corresponding to the stage number m.

Description

field of invention [0001] The present invention relates to a micromobility network in which routers are connected in a tree-like connection form, and wireless base stations are connected to routers in the lowest layer, so that routing update notifications from mobile terminals are forwarded in order from wireless base stations to subsequent superior routers , so as to update the route, and distribute data packets along the updated route. In particular, the present invention relates to a route update method for a micro-mobility network. Background technique [0002] The cellular IP standard draft (see A.G.Valko published in the ACM computer communication review in January 1999 and be entitled " the cellular IP-A new scheme that solves Internet host computer mobility " article) etc. define the routine as the improvement object of the present invention Mobile support network. [0003] figure 1 A mobile support network is shown applying the described techniques. refer to fig...
