Embodiment Construction

[0027] refer to figure 1 and 2 in the form of a sphere 1 mounted on a three-pillar support 2 . This sphere contains a spherical closed and sealed shell 3, which is glued together along an equatorial seam 4 by two acrylic hemispherical shells. The casing 3 is surrounded in the same concentric manner as the casing 3 by a spherical container 5, preferably of transparent acrylic material. The housing 3 is separated from the container 5 by a small space filled with the liquid 6, so that the housing 3 is supported and surrounded by the liquid 6 and can rotate about itself along the X-X' axis independently of the container 5. The outer surface of the shell 3 is a graphic design that is painted or etched, in this case the world Figure 7 . The weight of the enclosure is properly distributed in the desired direction.

[0028] The casing 3 is preferably translucent. In other words, the housing allows light waves to pass through, but hides the drive mechanism inside, so that the dri...

Abstract

An intriguing and educational display structure (2) includes a translucent earth globe body (3) suspended by energy derived from solar cells (14) integral to the globe. The globe is suspended by magnetic forces between magnets within the support assembly (10) which is controlled by a servo system substantially integral to the globe and powered by the solar cells (14). The servo mechanism can be made to launch and land the suspended globe in response to changing levels of illumination. Energy can be stored within the globe to power occasional periods of suspension, even in very low light levels.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a self-starting and self-driving display device, in particular to a self-rotating sphere driven by radiant energy. Background technique [0002] Various types of novel structures that can move without significant support, drive mechanism, or power input are often used as toys, decorative sound-producing parts, or advertising media. Various embodiments of such structures have been disclosed in the following patents: US Patent 5,435,086 to Huang et al; Japanese Patents 10137451, 101431101, and 10171383 to Hirose Mamoru; Japanese Patents 7210081, 7219426 to Taragi Hiroshi, and 7239652; German Patent DE19706736 by Fushoellier; German Patent DE3725723 by Steinbrinck; and German Patent DE 41377175 by Lang, among others. Most of the existing embodiments are not all without external support. If they are not rigidly stabilized on external supports, ie require complex and bulky counter-torque generating mechanisms, such as fan ...
