Abstract

A method of checking out new calendar entries in a calendar application having a cache that includes a first subset of existing entries in a first date range. The electronic device implements the method. The method includes determining whether the date of the new item falls within a first date range. If so, the method determines whether the new item directly conflicts with or is adjacent to one of the existing items in the first subset, and provides notification if appropriate. If the date is outside the first date range, the method builds a new schedule cache that includes a second subset of existing items in a second date range that falls near the new item date, determining whether the new schedule item is related to the One of the existing agenda items in the second subset directly conflicts or is adjacent, and notification is provided as appropriate.
