Abstract

The present invention provides systems and methods for transferring data between devices. The systems and methods include hardware and / or software located in the mobile stations. The systems and methods display a menu to the user that allows the user to select data for transfer, the method of transfer, the device to transfer the data to or from, and the specific model of the selected device. The systems and methods of the present invention, based on the options selected by the user, retrieve the selected data from one device, convert the data such that it is compatable with that of the other device, and transfers the data. Once received, the data is stored for use.

Description

technical background [0001] The invention relates to the transfer of data stored in a first mobile station to one or more second mobile stations via a data link. Background technique [0002] The number of functions available on mobile stations, such as cellular telephones, has increased significantly in recent years. This increase is partly driven by advances in electronic components and battery packs used in mobile stations. Furthermore, as users have become more accustomed to using mobile stations, such as cellular telephones, users have requested that the functionality of the mobile stations be increased, thereby increasing their versatility. [0003] For example, first generation cellular telephones typically only included functionality for making and receiving telephone calls. In subsequent generations of cellular phones, features such as a phone book were added, allowing users to store various phone numbers. Cellular telephones and other types of mobile stations no...
