The electronic thermometer includes a temperature control circuit or unit, indicated generally at 13 , sized and shaped to fit snugly in the hand H . A control unit 13 (broadly speaking "base unit") is connected by a helical wire 15 to a probe 17 (these reference numbers generally denote their objects). The probe 17 is designed to come into contact with an object, such as a patient, and to send a signal representative of the temperature to the control unit 13 .
