Problems solved by technology

[0003]The disadvantage of this device is that it is expensive and cumbersome to implement
In reality, optical fibers are expensive and delicate materials, light sources include equally expensive lasers, and detectors are complex, sophisticated and expensive detectors
In addition, this device is not very flexible and can only detect temperatures on the order of cryogenic temperatures and cannot easily detect temperatures above -60°C, so it cannot detect temperature changes caused by leaks of warm liquids

Embodiment Construction

[0026] Figure 1 shows a preferred embodiment of the device according to the invention. The device comprises a hollow heat pipe 1 , the first end 7 of which is closed by a plug 2 . The hollow heat pipe 1 contains a fluid 3 , preferably in the form of a gas 3 , the pressure of which is measured with a pressure gauge 4 . Downstream of the pressure gauge 4 may be another pressure gauge 5 or detector, the processor of which is connected to an alarm signal transmitter (not shown) when required. If the area to be monitored is prone to a sudden drop in temperature following a leak of cryogenic liquid 9, the processor 5 may be programmed to emit a signal in the event of a sudden decompression. Alternatively, the processor 5 may be programmed to emit a signal in the event of a sudden increase in pressure, for example corresponding to warm liquid covering one end 2 of the device. Signaling is actually performed by comparison. In the specific case where the processor 5 is present, by c...

Abstract

The inventive device for detecting temperature variations comprises a hollow thermally conductive tube (1) for containing liquid (3), wherein said thermally conductive tube (1) consists of a first end (6,7) and a second end (7,6) one of which (6, 7) is connected to said sensor (4) and at least on of which (7,6) is sealed. Said device for detecting a temperature variations makes it possible to detect cryogenic, cold, hot and ultra-hot liquid leakage.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a temperature change detection device comprising means for determining a change in a physical quantity caused by a temperature change, which is connected to a detector for measuring said physical quantity. The invention also relates to the use of the device for detecting temperature changes, in particular caused by leaks of cryogenic liquids. Background technique [0002] Such a device is well known from document EP 0502781, which describes a cryogenic liquid leak detection device in which the means for determining changes in physical quantities caused by temperature changes are optical fibers. Optical fibers have the property of becoming opaque when subjected to temperature changes (from hot to cold) caused by cryogenic liquid leaks that occur near the fiber. The optical fiber of the device described in patent EP 0502781 is connected to a detector for measuring a physical quantity, in this case a detector of the change in the...
