A conventional carabiner (11) is molded directly into a plastic base (10), with the pivoted end of a closure gate (23) being toward the base. The base may also restrain a bungee cord (9) by having the end thereof and a wire crimp (15) molded into the base, or the base may have a bungee cord passageway (40) with cleat (41), into which the bungee cord may be pulled so as to lock the base in a desired position along the bungee cord.

Inverted “U” shaped spacers reduce the size of the J-hook opening, thereby adapting the carrier for flush mounting on a range of different sized rails. A steel mesh floor and holes in the walls of the carrier for insertion of hook ends of bungee cords allow for retention and transport of objects of varying size and shape.

A retractable elastic pressure hose 30, comprising an inlet connector 22, an outlet connector 28, an inner elastic tube 34, and an outer cover 36. Outer cover 36 is designed to expand and contract radially and longitudinally in response to internal pressure and external tensions on the hose. Internal pressure within the hose tends to extend the elastic pressure hose against the retracting force of the inner elastic tube. Outer cover 36 can have a hollow circular braid structure similar to the cover on a bungee cord and is designed to stretch beyond its fully extended length by applying external tension on the elastic pressure hose.

An outerwear garment having sleeves, where at least one sleeve has a closeable pocket of a size to contain a hand covering. A retractable tether, such as a shock cord or bungee cord, is attached at one end to the hand covering and the other end to the closeable pocket. The retractable tether may be detachably attached to the hand covering, closeable pocket, or both, via a fastener such as snaps. The inventive device includes a single roof rail system that secures the front forks of a bicycle on the roof of a truck or vehicle and the rear tire being secured to the bed of a truck or the lower back portion of a vehicle. The roof rail system is attached to the roof of a vehicle. The front forks of the bicycle are secured to a mounting system that securely attaches to the roof rails. The mounting system securely attaches to single roof rail system and the bicycle forks attach to the mounting system. One end of the mounting system is endowed with a quick release apparatus that fastens or unfastens the bicycle forks. The security apparatus consists of an existing attachment system, whether a bracket, a bungee cord or a security strap, that secures the rear of the bicycle to either the bed of a truck or to the rear of a vehicle.
