Methods and devices are provided for controlling movement of a working end of a surgical device. In one embodiment, methods and devices are provided for moving an end effector on a distal end of a surgical fastening device. Movement can include rotational movement of the end effector about an axis of the shaft, articulation of the end effector relative to the shaft, and actuation of an end effector, e.g., closing, firing, and/or cutting. In other embodiments, a single cable actuator is provided and is movable between a first position, in which it is effective to rotate an end effector without actuating (i.e., closing and firing) the end effector, and a second position, in which it is effective to actuate the end effector without rotating the end effector. In other aspects, methods and devices are provided for moving a flexible neck formed on a distal end of an accessory channel for use with an endoscope. Movement of the flexible neck can be used to control positioning of a tool extending through the flexible neck.

Devices and systems are provided for controlling movement of a working end of a surgical device by means of a robotic system. The present invention provides a mechanism for attaching accessory devices to the distal end of an endoscope or catheter. The engagement mechanism comprises a bracing member (392) that engages a surface of the endoscope (20) and a ramp surface (360), which applies a gripping force to an opposing surface of the endoscope, preferably through a wedge member (372). The bracing member (392) may comprise an elongate element that extends partially into the working channel of the endoscope or may comprise an element that engages a portion of the total circumference of the outside surface of the endoscope. The ramp surface (360) is inclined at an acute angle from the longitudinal axis of the endoscope and preferably engages with a slidable wedge in a cooperative arrangement that serves to reduce the distance between the wedge (372) and the bracing member (392) as the wedge slides on the ramp to engage a portion of the endoscope therebetween.

An endoscopic accessory medical device is provided. The device can include a handle, a flexible shaft, and an end effector. The handle can include an actuator for operating the end effector through a wire or cable pulling member that extends through the flexible shaft. The handle and actuator can be operable with a single hand, such that the operation of the end effector can be accomplished with the same hand that is used to hold the handle and advance the end effector through an endoscope. The handle can include an actuation mechanism that is decoupled from operation of the end effector when the actuator is in a first open position, which becomes operatively coupled to the end effector when the actuator is moved to a second position, such as by squeezing the actuator, and which operates the end effector when the actuator is moved further to a third position.

Steerable catheter devices are provided having a proximal first end portion, an elongate intermediate portion, and a distal flexible second end portion defining a longitudinal axis, and at least one channel having a proximal opening and terminating at an occluded distal end radially offset relative to the central longitudinal axis and positioned within the catheter flexible second end portion substantially straight in a relaxed position and bent when the occluded distal end is under a change in internal fluid pressure. Optionally, the catheter further has a dye injection lumen and a tool receiving passageway extending from the first end portion to the second end portion. The present invention relates to a mounting adapter for releasably securing accessories, tools, or their medical instruments to the distal end of an endoscope. The adapter is compatible with endoscopic accessories that have a cylindrical mounting surface, which becomes positioned over a length of the distal end of an endoscope. The adaptor is preferably provided in two components to support both ends of a cylindrical accessory on the endoscope surface. The adapter is configured to hold the accessory on the endoscope shaft by frictional engagement and is configured to maintain the accessory concentric with the shaft along its length. The adapter also is configured to mount an accessory to a wide range of commercially available endoscope diameters.

The present invention relates to a cleaner for an endoscope, the cleaner being used inside a living body during an endoscopic, surgical procedure. In particular, an object of the present invention is to reduce the burden on a physician and the patient during an endoscopic surgical procedure. The present invention therefore relates to a cleaner for cleaning debris from an endoscope and/or endoscopic accessories, such as an endoscope lens and/or an endoscope hood (attachment), inside a living body. The present invention also relates to an antifoulant for antifouling treatment of an endoscope and/or endoscopic accessories. The antifoulant may comprise, for example, (i) a nonionic surfactant with an HLB of 1 to 11 and (ii) a nonionic surfactant with an HLB of 11 to 20.

Disclosed is a delivery device for controllably delivering a prosthetic bulking device below a tissue surface such as below the mucosa to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease. This invention relates generally to an endoscope accessory. This device uses an overtube with an inflatable positioning balloon that can be inflated after placement of the overtube just proximal to the tip of the endoscope or echoendoscope. This balloon creates a temporary blockade of the gastrointestinal tract proximal to the portion that needs to be examined. The other part of the device is a catheter with an occlusion balloon affixed to its free endportion and can be passed through a passageway within the overtube and extended beyond the tip of the endoscope, distal to the part of the gastrointestinal tract that needs to be examined. Inflation of this balloon together with positioning balloon creates a closed space within the body cavity that can be filled with air or water for improving the quality of the examination with regular endoscope of echoendoscope, respectively, while reducing the examination complications.

An endoscope attachment enables an endoscope to capture images of areas in front and at the sides of the endoscope. The endoscope attachment has a transparent attaching part which is used to attach the endoscope attachment to a probe of the endoscope and has two through-holes. An endoscopic device has a tubular body with a retention channel substantially extending axially along the tube body. A medical tube is removably arranged in the retention channel and held in place by friction. A cable assembly is arranged between the medical tube and the surface of the retention channel. The cable assembly includes a shaped end fixture that is drawn between the medical tube and the retention channel when the cable is pulled, thereby releasing the medical tube from the tube body.

The invention relates to a disposable locking structure of an endoscope sheath. The disposable locking structure comprises the endoscope sheath, an intermediate sleeve, a locking sleeve and a connector of the endoscope sheath and an endoscope, and the intermediate sleeve and the locking sleeve are sleeved on the endoscope sheath at the position of the connector to lock the endoscope.
