5 results about "Sediment trap" patented technology

Sediment traps are instruments used in oceanography to measure the quantity of sinking particulate organic (and inorganic) material in aquatic systems, usually oceans. This flux of material is the product of biological and ecological processes typically within the surface euphotic zone, and is of interest to scientists studying the role of the biological pump in the carbon cycle.

System for monitoring sediment plume dynamics in a deep-sea mining area and multi-module analysis method thereof

ActiveCN121185864BAchieve multi-scale continuous monitoringSurface/boundary effectDeep sea miningSensor array
This invention discloses a dynamic monitoring system for sediment plumes in deep-sea mining areas and its multi-module fusion analysis method, belonging to the field of deep-sea environmental monitoring and marine engineering technology. The system includes fixed and mobile monitoring units. The fixed unit consists of an in-situ optical and three-dimensional sonar observation base station, a sediment trap array, and a multi-parameter sensor array, deployed in the mining area. The mobile unit includes an AUV equipped with a multispectral lidar and an ROV equipped with a binocular vision system and a miniature sampler. The analysis method uses multi-source data fusion, combined with dark channel defogging and pyramid optical flow method to extract the plume motion field, constructing a physics-data dual-driven model to simulate the plume diffusion and sedimentation process, generating a three-dimensional dynamic heat map in real time, and setting intelligent early warning thresholds based on diffusion radius and sedimentation flux. This invention achieves multi-scale, high-precision, and real-time dynamic monitoring and evaluation of plumes, effectively supporting the optimization of deep-sea mining operations and environmental compliance supervision.

A sand blocking ridge for preventing the deposition of bed load sediment at the tail water outlet of a hydropower station

This invention discloses a sediment trap to prevent siltation at the tailrace outlet of a hydropower station. It is installed in the river channel at the confluence of the power station's tailrace outlet and the riverbed, and includes an arc-shaped transition section and a straight wall section. The upstream end of the arc-shaped transition section smoothly connects to the upstream bank wall of the river, and the downstream end smoothly connects to the straight wall section. The straight wall section extends along the river's flow direction and stands vertically in the river channel at the confluence of the power station's tailrace outlet and the riverbed. A tailrace flow passage is reserved between the downstream end of the straight wall section and the bank wall. The overall length of the sediment trap is determined based on the overall length L4 of the power station's tailrace outlet. The vertical distances between the starting end and the downstream end of the straight wall section and the power station's tailrace outlet are L1 and L2, respectively. The cross-sectional length of the tailrace flow passage reserved between the downstream end of the straight wall section and the bank wall is L3. By controlling the distances L1, L2, and L3, the impact of the sediment trap on the power station's tailrace elevation is minimized. This invention can prevent sediment from entering the power station's tailrace outlet and forming siltation, ensuring the normal operation of the power station.
