Abstract

A lever-type electrical connector assembly comprising: a first connector having an insulative housing capable of mounting a plurality of first terminals; pivotally mounted on the insulative housing of the first connector to pivot between a pre-mated position and a fully-mated position a movable mating assist lever having a cam slot therein; a second connector capable of mating with the first connector, having an insulative housing capable of mounting a plurality of second terminals mated with the first terminal; and a cam follower protrusion capable of engages in the cam slot of the mating assist lever in its pre-mating position, and as the cam follower nose advances along the cam slot, the two connectors are mated into their fully mated positions as the lever is rotated; and A locking means between the insulating housing of the second connector and the mating assist lever locks the mating assist lever in its fully mated position.
