[0091] The first embodiment of the present invention will be described below with reference to the accompanying drawings.

[0092] 1. Digital still camera

[0093] FIG. 29 is a block diagram of a structure of a digital still camera (DSC) (image capturing device) 29 on which a variable magnification optical system OS can be mounted.

[0094] As shown in FIG. 29, the DSC 29 includes an interchangeable variable magnification optical system OS, a flash FL, an optical system drive unit 13, an image sensor SR, a signal processing unit 14, a display unit 15, a recording unit 16, a recording medium 17 , the operating unit 18 and the control unit 19.

[0095] The interchangeable variable magnification optical system OS guides the light from the object to be photographed (from the object side) to the image sensor SR and focuses the light on the light receiving surface (image plane) of the image sensor SR. Therefore, the variable magnification optical system OS can be expressed as an i...

Abstract

An optical zoom includes from object to image side a first lens group having a positive power, a second lens group having a negative power, and a third lens group having a positive power and at least one further positive-power lens group on the image plane side of the third lens group. When zooming is performed from wide-angle to telephoto end, all the lens groups are moved, the first and third lens groups are monotonically moved towards the object side so that the distance between the first and second lens groups increases, the distance between the second and third lens groups decreases and the distance between the third lens group and the following lens group decreases. The third lens group includes one negative and one positive lens from the object side and the following inequality is satisfied preconcerted conditions.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] The present invention contains subject matter related to Japanese Patent Application JP 2006-090568 filed in the Japan Patent Office on Mar. 29, 2006, the entire content of which is hereby incorporated by reference. technical field [0003] The present invention relates to a variable magnification optical system for an image capture device such as a digital still camera, and more particularly to a variable magnification optical system mounted in an interchangeable lens unit. Background technique [0004] Many known image capture devices, such as silver halide movie cameras and television cameras, have zoom capabilities and long back focus. For example, Japanese Unexamined Patent Application Publication No. 2000-75204 describes a zoom lens system (variable magnification optical system) that can be mounted to a silver halide movie camera. Also, Japanese Unexamined Patent Application Publication No. 2003-241088 describes...
