Problems solved by technology

[0005] Existing soil baskets have certain disadvantages in terms of structure and longevity
For example, these baskets often include a wire mesh cage structure lined with a geotextile material, which adds to the cost and complexity of the basket structure and is harmful to the environment long after deployment. The functionality of the earthen baskets constitutes a significant limitation

Embodiment Construction

[0073] Referring in more detail to Figures 1 and 2, there is shown a multi-compartment earthworks basket 1 comprising opposing side walls 2, 3 divided along the length of the earthstone basket 1 by a plurality of The partition walls 4, 5, 6 are connected together at regular intervals, and the plurality of partition walls 4, 5, 6 together with the side walls 2, 3 define the independent compartments 7, 8, 9. The individual compartments 8 (and other similar individual compartments) of the multi-compartment earth and stone basket 1 are bounded by opposing side wall portions 10 , 11 of the respective opposing side walls 2 , 3 . The partition walls 4, 5 (and similar partition walls) are pivotally connected to the side walls 2, 3 at hinge points 11, 11', 12, 12'.

[0074] In the embodiment shown in Figures 1 and 2, each side wall portion 10, 11 of the multi-compartment soil and stone basket 1 comprises two side wall unit panels 13, 13' and 14, 14' respectively, adjacent side walls ...

Abstract

The invention provides a gabion which may be used to protect military or civilian installations from weapons assault or from elemental forces, such as flood waters, lava flows, avalanches, soil instability, slope erosion and the like, the gabion comprising side walls (13) connected together at spaced intervals by partition walls (4-6), the side walls comprising at least one substantially closed side wall element panel, which acts in use of the gabion to prevent a gabion fill material from falling through the side wall, the said action of the substantially closed side wall element panel being effective without the aid of a gabion lining material.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a soil and stone basket, in particular to a multi-compartment soil and stone basket which can be used without a lining material. Background technique [0002] Gravel baskets are temporary or semi-permanent fortification structures used to protect military or civilian installations from weapons or from natural forces such as floods, lava flows, avalanches, slope erosion, soil instability, and the like. [0003] WO-A-90 / 12160 discloses a wire mesh cage structure for use as an earth stone basket. The cage structure consists of pivotally interconnected open mesh frames that are joined together at the factory, thus allowing the cage to telescopically fold in a flat The cage is transported to the work site where it can be erected to obtain an open multi-compartment form for filling with a suitable filling material such as sand, soil, earth or stones. [0004] WO-A-00 / 40810 also relates to a multi-compartment earthen basket which is...
