Embodiment Construction

[0023] The following description will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings, like elements used in different drawings bearing like numerals. The drawings are not necessarily to scale, they depict selected embodiments and are not intended to limit the scope of the invention. While examples of construction, dimensions, and materials are shown for various elements, those skilled in the art will recognize that there are many suitable alternatives that may be utilized for many of the examples provided.

[0024] figure 1 is a schematic diagram of an exemplary but non-limiting fan coil system 10 . Although the fan coil system 10 is schematically shown as a two-pipe fan system comprising a single supply duct and a single return duct, it is understood that the fan coil system 10 could be replaced with a four duct fan coil system , the system has hot water supply and return pipes and cooling water supply and return pipes. In some cases, a four-pipe system includes ...

Abstract

A fan coil thermostat with activity sensing can save energy, for example, through operating fan coil system(10) more effectively. The fan coil system using the fan coil thermostat can save more energy. The fan coil system(10) comprises: a fan coil(12) which is configured for fluid communication with a source of heated fluid and/or a source of cooled fluid, a valve(22) that controls fluid flow through the fan coil, a fan(14) that blows air across the fan coil(12). The fan coil thermostat may include a controller(32) that implements a control algorithm that can calculate error percentage relative to the temperature difference between the current temperature and the set temperature. The error percentage includes a proportion item and an integral item relative to the temperature difference. The controller(32) can adjust fan speed according to the error percentage.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention generally relates to a temperature control device, in particular to a temperature control device suitable for fan coil units. Background technique [0002] Various buildings, such as hotels, apartments or similar buildings use fan coil systems for cooling and heating. In a fan coil system, a heat transfer fluid such as water is pumped or forced through the fan coil. A fan is used to blow air across the fan coil. If the heat transfer fluid is heated, then the heated air will flow out of the fan coil system. Conversely, when the heated heat transfer fluid is cooled, the cooled air will flow out of the fan coil. [0003] Like other HAVC systems, fan coil systems often require considerable energy losses. For many buildings, such as hotels or other similar structures, many rooms may be unoccupied many times. Significant energy savings can be achieved by controlling vacant rooms or spaces to energy savings setback temperatures rath...
