Signals are sent from the sensors (preferably to a logic control device) indicating the presence or absence of the gaming elements. The inactive state or sleep mode requires less power consumption by the components than an active mode of operation. A piezoelectric sensor in the device is used to detect movement. The piezoelectric sensor provides an input signal to the processor upon detecting movement of the device. The one or more components are placed in the active mode in response to the input signal.
