A logging system includes an event receiver and a storage manager. The receiver receives log data, processes it, and outputs a column-based data “chunk.” The manager receives and stores chunks. The receiver includes buffers that store events and a metadata structure that stores metadata about the contents of the buffers. Each buffer is associated with a particular event field and includes values from that field from one or more events. The metadata includes, for each “field of interest,” a minimum value and a maximum value that reflect the range of values of that field over all of the events in the buffers. A chunk is generated for each buffer and includes the metadata structure and a compressed version of the buffer contents. The metadata structure acts as a search index when querying event data. The logging system can be used in conjunction with a security information/event management (SIEM) system.

Systems and methods are disclosed that facilitate providing page-level database restore functionality upon detection of a corruption event. Updates to a data page in a database can trigger generation of a snapshot of the data page, and an update log can be maintained that stores information related to page updates. Subsequent snapshots can be generated at predetermined intervals and can trigger truncation of a log segment and initiation of a new log segment. Upon detection of page corruption, a most-recent uncorrupt snapshot of the corrupt page can be identified, copied to the location of the corrupt page in the database, and modified according to the log segment associated with the uncorrupt snapshot to make the page current as of the corrupting event, all of which can be performed to restore the database without having to take the database offline.

An electromagnetic wave propagation resistivity borehole logging system comprising multiple groups of electromagnetic transmitter-receiver arrays operating at three frequencies. The borehole logging tool component of the system employs eight transmitters and four receivers. The transmitters and receivers are disposed axially and symmetrically along the major axis of the tool to form four group pairs. Each group pair consists of a transmitter-receiver groups axially and symmetrically on opposing sides of a reference point on the tool. An efficient logging method and system is disclosed that can be used to recover from a failure in a transaction system. It is based on a differential logging scheme that allows commutative and associative recovery operations. The method includes the steps of taking a before-image of the primary database in main memory before an update to the primary database; taking an after-image of the primary database after the update; generating a differential log by applying bit-wise exclusive-OR (XOR) between the before-image and the after-image; and performing either a redo or undo operation by applying XOR between said one or more logs and the before-image. Since XOR operations are commutative and associative, correct recovery is possible regardless of the creation sequence of log records. The present invention improves the performance of a logging system by reducing the size of log records and by allowing parallel execution of recovery operations.

An integrated logging system includes a client-side logging component and a server-side logging component. Full wave acoustic response of a scanning transducer is used to measure parameters indicative of condition of a tubular lining the well borehole, the bonding of the tubular to material filling an annulus formed by the outside surface of the tubular and the wall of the borehole, the distribution of the material filling the annulus, and thickness of the tubular. A reference transducer is used to correct measured parameters for variations in acoustic impedance of fluid filling the borehole, and for systematic variations in the response of the scanning transducer. Corrections are made in real time. The downhole tool portion of the logging system is operated essentially centralized in the borehole using a centralizer that can be adjusted for operation in a wide range of borehole sizes.

A method and system efficiently identifies voice commands for a user of a speech recognition system. The method involves a series of steps including: receiving input from a user; monitoring the computer system to log system events and ascertain a current system state; predicting a probable next event according to the current system state and logged events; and identifying acceptable voice commands to perform the next event. The system events include commands, system control activities, timed activities, and application activation. These events are statistically analyzed in light of the current system state to determine the probable next event. The invention relates to a method and a system for building a big data distributed log. The method comprises the following steps that: 1, a log transmission sub system receives log data from a service system, generates a UUID (Universally Unique Identifier) for each piece of received log data, and sends the log data with the UUID to a log storage sub system through a plurality of nodes after the load balance; 2, the log storage system receives the log data, and stores the log data in a horizontal expansion mode; and 3, a mass log processing sub system extracts the log data stored in the log storage sub system, uses a MapReduce algorithm to regularly perform mass pre-processing on the log data, and generates a report by the hour and a report by the day to be required by an external service report system. The method and the system have the advantage that the requirements on the reliability, the real-time performance, the high performance, the high expandability and the maintainability of a log system under the big data condition can be met.
