Abstract

The invention discloses a method, a user node and a server for requesting the location information of resources on a network, which enable a user to quickly obtain wanted network resources. Popular files and unpopular files are separately managed, and the metadata of the popular files are stored on a plurality of SNs by areas, while the metadata of the unpopular files are centrally stored and queried. The SN is added with the function of redirection messages in order to inform the request user of the existence of SN-R. Meanwhile, in order to increase the efficiency of query and prevent repeated redirection messages, the user node side is provided with a server routing table, which is used for indicating which files need to be downloaded and which servers the request needs to be sent to. Since the popular files and the unpopular files are separately stored and all the unpopular files are centrally stored, when a user in a P2P network requests an unpopular file, the location information of the file and the corresponding file can be quickly obtained.
