Integrated active flux microfluidic devices and methods

The invention relates to a microfabricated device for the rapid detection of DNA, proteins or other molecules associated with a particular disease. The devices and methods of the invention can be used for the simultaneous diagnosis of multiple diseases by detecting molecules (e.g. amounts of molecules), such as polynucleotides (e.g., DNA) or proteins (e.g., antibodies), by measuring the signal of a detectable reporter associated with hybridized polynucleotides or antigen/antibody complex. In the microfabricated device according to the invention, detection of the presence of molecules (i.e., polynucleotides, proteins, or antigen/antibody complexes) are correlated to a hybridization signal from an optically-detectable (e.g. fluorescent) reporter associated with the bound molecules. These hybridization signals can be detected by any suitable means, for example optical, and can be stored for example in a computer as a representation of the presence of a particular gene. Hybridization probes can be immobilized on a substrate that forms part of or is exposed to a channel or channels of the device that form a closed loop, for circulation of sample to actively contact complementary probes. Universal chips according to the invention can be fabricated not only with DNA but also with other molecules such as RNA, proteins, peptide nucleic acid (PNA) and polyamide molecules.

Computer-implemented methods displaying, in a first part, a document and in a second part, a selected index of entities identified in the document

Disclosed is a computer-implemented method of presenting data which has been automatically extracted from a digital representation of a document to a curator for review, the extracted data comprising annotation entity data concerning one or more instances of entities which have been identified in the digital representation of a document, the annotation entity data comprising data specifying the location of the identified instances of entities within the digital representation of a document, the method comprising the steps of (i) displaying in a first region of a display screen a user selectable portion of the digital representation of a document with said instances of entities which are specified by the annotation entity data as being located within the displayed portion of the digital representation of a document highlighted at the location specified by the annotation entity data; (ii) displaying in a second region of the display screen a list of a plurality of instances of entities which have been identified in the digital representation of a document, at least one of the listed instances of an entity having a user selectable user interface element associated therewith; and (iii) responsive to a user selecting the user selectable user interface element associated with an instance of an entity, adjusting the portion of the digital representation of a document which is displayed in the first region to include the location within the digital representation of a document where the instance of an entity associated with the selected user interface element is located.

Methods and apparatuses for interactive similarity searching, retrieval and browsing of video

Methods for interactive selecting video queries consisting of training images from a video for a video similarity search and for displaying the results of the similarity search are disclosed. The user selects a time interval in the video as a query definition of training images for training an image class statistical model. Time intervals can be as short as one frame or consist of disjoint segments or shots. A statistical model of the image class defined by the training images is calculated on-the-fly from feature vectors extracted from transforms of the training images. For each frame in the video, a feature vector is extracted from the transform of the frame, and a similarity measure is calculated using the feature vector and the image class statistical model. The similarity measure is derived from the likelihood of a Gaussian model producing the frame. The similarity is then presented graphically, which allows the time structure of the video to be visualized and browsed. Similarity can be rapidly calculated for other video files as well, which enables content-based retrieval by example. A content-aware video browser featuring interactive similarity measurement is presented. A method for selecting training segments involves mouse click-and-drag operations over a time bar representing the duration of the video; similarity results are displayed as shades in the time bar. Another method involves selecting periodic frames of the video as endpoints for the training segment.

Parking management system and method based on Internet of things

The invention discloses a parking management system and method based on the Internet of things. The system comprises a cloud platform, a graphical parking lot management platform, a first mobile terminal and a second mobile terminal; the graphical parking lot management platform comprises a parking lot entity graphical interface display module, parking stall locks and a parking stall monitoring assembly, the parking stall locks upload state information of parking stalls automatically, and the parking stall monitoring assembly issues parking stall information to the cloud platform; and the cloud platform manages parking stall information, transaction and users, and provides a navigation service. When an owner of a certain parking stall issues vacancy information of the parking stall via the first mobile terminal, a user reserves the parking stall via the second mobile terminal, the parking stall is locked by the unique user after reservation succeeds, when the user arrives at the parking lot and enters parking lot after identity recognition, the user is autonomously or automatically navigated to the preserved offline parking stall, and the system carries out electronic settlement automatically after use. Thus, the value of limit resources is maximized.
