When a part of a microprocessor is manufactured, the number of non-modifiable fuses that will be blown is determined. For example, suppose a part of a microprocessor has 1000 non-modifiable fuses, of which 147 will be blown, and then the blown number is taken as a signature blown in a set of modifiable fuses that can be corrected by microcode through the error detection and correction techniques described above. When the microprocessor resets (reset) and executes the reset microcode, the microprocessor reads all non-modifiable fuses and counts the number of fuses that are blown, and then compares the number of counts with the number read from the modifiable fuses.
