Abstract

There is provided an image capturing apparatus and method capable of preventing frame-out of a moving object even when a fast-moving object is photographed. The image capturing apparatus comprises: an image capturing unit that obtains image data by capturing an object; a moving object detecting unit that detects a moving object to be tracked based on the image data obtained with the image capturing unit; a tracking frame setting unit that sets an area portion which includes the moving object in the image data as a tracking frame when the moving object is detected by the moving object detecting unit; a display frame setting unit that sets an area which is shifted from the tracking frame in the image data in the direction opposite to the moving direction of the moving object as a display frame; and a display processing unit that displays the image data which is included in the display frame on a display unit.
