specific Embodiment approach

[0067] as in figure 1 In one embodiment of the device object of the invention, it is observed that the programmable element 105 has a data input 110 and a data output 115 connected to a buffer with a data output 125 . Error detection and correction means 130 are connected via links 135 to element 105 , buffer 120 and memory 140 , which is itself connected to element 105 .

[0068] The programmable element 105, in the described and represented embodiment, is based on a RAM type FPGA, the configuration matrix of the FPGA element is from RAM, in other words volatile memory technology. Element 105 implements logical functions of the type known in electronic or information systems (not shown). This element 105 may have these altered resources with binary value changes or "bit flips" due to the radiation environment of the element 105 .

[0069] Data input 110 represents a logic function digital input to element 105 . Data output 115 represents the logic function digital output o...

Abstract

A device for using a programmable component (105) carrying out at least one logical function in a radiative environment comprises: a means (130) for error detection in a data-storing working memory space actually serving to carry out each said logical function of the device through the use of data stored in at least one reference memory space storing a data copy implemented by at least one logical function; a means (130, 135, 120) for blocking at least one output (125) of at least one logical function of said component for which an error in the data implemented by said logical function is detected by said means for detection; and a means (130, 140) for correcting each error detected in said working space.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a device allowing the use of programmable elements in natural radiation environments. The invention is applied in particular to elements of the FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) type. Background technique [0002] This source of radiation is related to solar galactic radiation. Radiation flow is altered according to altitude and latitude by effects such as the magnetosphere, atmosphere and Van Allen radiation loops that form barriers and filters. This radiation consists mainly of heavy ions and protons in space and at high altitudes, and in the atmosphere neutrons dominate. [0003] In the ocean, the neutron flux is about 300 times less than at an altitude of 10 kilometers. However, even on the surface, the problem with this radiation, known as "SEE" (short for Single Event Effet), has been verified in several systems due to the increasing fusion of constituent elements. This issue is likely to turn into a challenge in t...
