Abstract

The invention relates to composite covers with integral heat sinks. Specifically provided is a composite cover for a portion of a motor vehicle transmission, the cover having an integral inner radiator with an electronic controller attached. The cover can be made of any temperature suitable plastic or composite material for enclosing and protecting that part of the motor vehicle transmission having electrical and electronic components such as valves, solenoids, motors and sensors. The plate or radiator is spaced from the inner surface of the cover where it is subjected to transmission fluid flow on both sides. An electronic controller is disposed on the exterior of the cover and is attached to a plate located inside the cover by heat transfer mechanical fasteners such as studs or bolts. Preferably, the housing of the controller also includes a heat sink.
