Embodiment Construction

[0018] figure 1 A perspective view of a front panel of a cab-over truck provided with a chassis frame 10 and a cab 11 is shown. The truck frame 10 has two generally parallel rails. An engine (not shown) is mounted between two beams of the vehicle frame 10 at least under the rear of the cab 11, and along the Channel (engine tunnel) extension. The front panel includes a lower front panel 12 and an upper front panel 13 . The lower front panel 12 is attached to the chassis frame 10 , while the upper front panel 13 is attached to the cab 11 . The front panels 12, 13 are mounted vertically overlapping to avoid vertical gaps between the lower front panel and the upper front panel.

[0019] Such as figure 2 As shown, the cab 11 is supported at the front end of the vehicle frame 10 by shock absorber units 14 located on both sides of an engine cooler (not shown in the figure). An upper end of each shock absorber unit 14 is connected to a cab (not shown in the drawings), and a low...

Abstract

The invention relates to a lower front panel for a cab-over engine commercial vehicle with a chassis frame and a forward tiltable cab comprising a drivers compartment. The cab is mounted to the frame via a suspension system and via a cab tilting pivot shaft rotatably mounted at the forward end of the frame to allow the cab to be tilted from a normal position of use to an engine service access position. The lower front panel is arranged at the forward end of the chassis frame and an upper front panel is attached to the cab between the chassis frame and a cab windscreen. A panel segment is adapted to follow the tilt angle of the cab when the cab is tilted from a normal position of use to the service access position. The invention also relates to cab-over engine commercial vehicle provided with the above described improved lower front panel.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a lower front panel according to the preamble of claim 1 . The invention also relates to a cab-type commercial vehicle according to the preamble of claim 6 . Background technique [0002] Cab-type vehicles, especially trucks, are designed so that the engine is located under the cab. An advantage of this configuration is the ability to utilize the longer body of the truck or the greater cargo space for the same overall length by minimizing the space occupied by the cab and power unit. In the case of a combined tractor and trailer, longer trailer units can be used within a predetermined or maximum permissible overall length. [0003] In cab trucks, the cab can often be tilted forward over the engine for access to the engine. For driver comfort, a suspension system is arranged between the cab and the truck chassis to reduce vibration transmission from the chassis to the cab. Typically, the cab suspension system can be designed...
