Problems solved by technology

[0004] The problem associated with the repetition of ACK / NAK is that in response to successively received downlink pieces, these successively received downlink pieces The acknowledgments of the messages may collide, which may cause the base station to not be able to receive the acknowledgments stably associated with successively transmitted downlink information pieces

Embodiment Construction

[0012] According to some preferred embodiments, a technique or means is provided to allow for repeated transmission of acknowledgment messages while avoiding collisions in acknowledgment messages sent in response to multiple received messages. In some embodiments, an acknowledgment message is sent by the mobile station on the uplink (from the mobile station to the base station) in response to the reception of downlink data at the base station. The acknowledgment information includes a command positive acknowledgment (ACK) indicating successful data reception, or a negative acknowledgment (NAK) indicating unsuccessful data reception.

[0013] To improve stability under certain conditions, a mobile station can be configured to perform ACK / NAK repetition, where multiple ACK / NAK messages are sent in response to the receipt of certain downlink data. In some embodiments, the number of ACK / NAK repetitions configured in the mobile station may be two. In other implementations, the mob...

Abstract

In general, to provide acknowledgment information by a first wireless device, the first wireless device sends repeated instances of acknowledgment information in respective first and second frame structures, in response to receipt of first information from a second wireless device. In addition, the first wireless device also sends further acknowledgment information in the second frame structure that is responsive to second information received from the second wireless device.

Description

Background technique [0001] Various wireless access technologies have been proposed or implemented to enable mobile stations to communicate with other mobile stations, or with wired terminals connected to wired networks. Examples of radio access technologies include GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) and UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications Services) technologies defined by the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP), and CDMA2000 (Code Division Multiple Access 2000) defined by 3GPP2. [0002] As part of the continuous evolution of wireless access technologies, new standards have been proposed to increase spectrum efficiency, improve services, reduce costs, and so on. One such new standard is 3GPP's Long Term Evolution (LTE) (also known as the Evolved Universal Terrestrial Radio Access (EUTRA) standard), which aims to enhance UMTS technology. [0003] In a wireless communication network, information can be communicated wirelessly between mobile stations an...
