A projection device includes a light source, a light valve, a lens, a shading module and a controller. The light source is used for providing an illumination beam. The light valve is located on the transmission path of the illuminating beam for converting the illuminating beam into an image beam, and the light valve is switched between a first state and a second state. The lens is located on the transmission path of the image beam, and is used to form the image beam into a projection beam and project the projection beam along a light output path. The controller is electrically connected to the shading module. When the light valve is switched to the first state, the controller drives the shading module to completely block all light beams projected by the lens along the light output path. When the light valve is switched to the second state, the controller drives the shading module to not block all light beams projected by the lens along the light output path. A method for controlling the shading sheet is also proposed.
