[0022] A method of automatically tracking the movement of a user participating in a video chat application and displaying consecutive frames of images of the user is disclosed. A capture device coupled to the computing device captures the user within the field of view of the capture device. A sub-frame of pixels containing the user's head, neck, and shoulders is identified in the capture frame of the capture area captured by the capture device. The sub-frame of pixels is displayed to a remote user at the remote computing device who is participating in a video chat application with the user. In one embodiment, the capture device also detects more than one user in the capture area and automatically adjusts the pixel subframe to include all users.
