Embodiment Construction

[0026] Referring to the drawings, the device of the invention comprises a housing formed by two half-shell parts 1, 30, inside which the main components of the device of the invention are arranged. Such as figure 1 As shown, the half-shell part 1 is shown on the left. On the half shell part 1, a short shaft 31 (such as figure 2 As shown), the drive drum 2 is rotatably installed on the short shaft 31. The hub of the drum 2 around the minor axis 31 is indicated by the reference numeral 3 . The outer surface of the driving drum 2 has a helical groove 5 molded on the outer surface, on which a number of turns of the rope 4 are wound, and the hanging part 6 of the rope is loaded with a weight of eg 10 kg in use.

[0027] The outside of the hub 3 carries an annular part 7 with an external ratchet ring 8 cooperating with two spring pawls 9 mounted inside the drive drum 2 . This makes it possible to rewind the drive drum 2 when the weight has fallen to the floor.

Abstract

Gravity powered electrical energy generators, particularly for producing lighting is disclosed. The apparatus has a support frame (1, 30) in which a series of gears and a gear-driven generator (20) are mounted. The power to drive the most upstream gear (2) is provided by a weight suspended from a point to one side of the axis of rotation of gear (2). The drive gear of the furthest downstream gear has no teeth so that the final contact between the drive gear and the shaft of the generator (20) is frictional. The gear ratio of the final downstream gear is at least 25. When used for lighting, the apparatus may include one or more high brightness LEDs (40) mounted on the housing (30). By suitable choice of gear ratios, the device may produce thirty minutes of illumination while allowing a 10 kilogram weight to fall through a distance of 1.8 metres.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to gravity-driven power generation devices and, in particular, to devices adapted to provide light without the need for the use of power storage devices. Background technique [0002] From the beginning of human civilization, people have expected light in hours of darkness. In prehistory, and through most of history, this has been achieved by burning suitable fuels, initially with whatever combustible material was at hand, and subsequently with combustible hydrocarbon fuels, such as in candles and candles. Waxes used in the case of candles, or more recently various oils. The modern development of the oil and gas industry has led to the development of lighting tools that are fueled by kerosene, paraffin, or canisters utilizing compressed gas, usually butane butane. This lighting fuel consumes fossil fuels and thus harms the environment and is ultimately unsustainable. [0003] In the 19th century, the development of the ...
