Abstract

The invention provides an improved EPON (Ethernet passive optical network) dynamic bandwidth allocation method, which adopts an improved DBA (database administrator) algorithm to solve the problem of bandwidth allocation in an EPON system. The improved EPON dynamic bandwidth allocation method is characterized in that: firstly, the last bandwidth request and a data frame in each cycle are determined, the bandwidth request is sent at first, and bandwidth allocation is performed in the time for data transmission to reduce losses of the cycle; secondly, a linear prediction coefficient is introduced to compensate the data request received in the time for waiting for authorization; and finally, secondary distribution of the bandwidth is performed, and bandwidth fragments allocated primarily are fully utilized. Due to the above three methods, the losses of the cycle can be reduced greatly, the rate of utilization of the bandwidth can be improved, and the business delay is decreased.
