The invention provides a method and a system for refreshing a displayed picture of an electronic shelf label, wherein the electronic shelf label is in communicative connection with a system terminal, and the method comprises the steps of: (a) judging whether continuous display time of a current displayed picture of the electronic shelf label exceeds a preset value or not, wherein the current displayed picture corresponds to first price information stored in the electronic shelf label; (b) if the continuous display time exceeds the preset value, the electronic shelf label transmits the first price information to the system terminal; or, the system terminal transmits latest price information stored in the system terminal to the electronic shelf label; (c) judging whether the first price information is consistent with the latest price information; (d) if so, the electronic shelf label refreshes the displayed picture automatically, wherein the refreshed displayer picture still corresponds to the first price information.
