Problems solved by technology

Because some monitoring instances are relatively long-term (eg, overnight, several days), it may be inconvenient and inefficient to keep patients in the hospital for such long periods of time
Furthermore, this means that monitoring cannot be performed in settings where trained personnel (e.g. physicians) are not available

Embodiment Construction

[0035] In the following detailed description, numerous specific details are set forth in order to provide a thorough understanding of the present invention. However, it will be understood by those skilled in the art that the present invention may be practiced without these specific details. In other instances, well-known methods, procedures, and components have not been described in detail so as not to obscure the present invention.

[0036] Figure 1A An arrangement 10 of a system for monitoring the physiological condition of one or more patients 100 according to one embodiment of the invention is shown. It should be noted that, according to one embodiment of the invention, this arrangement may be used to monitor the patient's sleep, but this is not necessarily the case, but other physiological conditions of the patient (e.g., cardiac conditions, digestion, muscle tone, etc.), but not necessarily. Those skilled in the art should understand that the systems, methods and conf...

Abstract

According to an embodiment of the invention a monitoring system is provided and may include: a transmitter configured to transmit to a monitoring control system physiological monitoring information that is responsive to information received from sensors that are carried by a patient; and a sensor manager configured to modify a monitoring state of a first sensor out of the sensors in response to instructions that are determined by the monitoring control system in response to an adequacy of the physiological monitoring information to monitoring of sleeping of the patient; wherein the transmitter is further configured to transmit to the monitoring control system physiological monitoring information responsive to information received from the first sensor after the modifying of its monitoring state.

Description

technical field [0001] This application claims priority to U.S. Provisional Patent Application Serial No. 61 / 355,641, entitled "System and Method for Monitoring Sleep and Other Physiological Conditions," filed July 17, 2010, which is incorporated herein in its entirety , for reference. Background technique [0002] In existing solutions for monitoring, the monitored patient needs to be placed and monitored within a facility where physiological monitoring information can be collected, analyzed and evaluated. Because some monitoring instances are relatively long-term (eg, overnight, several days), it may be inconvenient and inefficient to keep patients in the hospital for such long periods of time. Furthermore, this means that monitoring cannot be performed in settings where trained personnel (eg, physicians) are not available. [0003] Such a location may be, for example, a patient's home, a nursing home, one of various hospital departments that do not support monitoring of...
