AI Technical Summary

Benefits of technology

The present process allows for efficient manufacturing by optimizing costs while minimizing waste during different parts or processes used throughout its entirety. This results in improved efficiency compared with traditional methods like mills or lathes.

Problems solved by technology

The technical problem addressed by this patented technology relating to improving hydrodynamic performance during operation has been that conventional design methods were prone to stress cracks caused by heavy loading or poorly secured guides made with threading bolts. Additionally, when there was any breakage at one point along these guiding features, it could cause significant damage even before repairs had taken place due to insufficient strength against bending forces.

[0017] figure 1 Shown is the inlet coil 1 of a water turbine in which the invention is employed. The inlet helix comprises a plurality of segments 2 whose cross-sectional area decreases in the circumferential direction starting at the inlet. The inlet helix 1 has support vanes 3 firmly welded to the sides of the support vanes.

Abstract

The invention relates to a spiral casing (1) of a turbomachine, in particular a turbine, pump or pump turbine, which consists of a number of segments (2) which are arranged one behind another in the circumferential direction and are connected to one another at the respective end sides, having guide devices at the inlet to the support blades (3). It is characterized in that individual guide segments (9) are provided which are composed of plastic. Furthermore, the invention relates to a method for producing a spiral casing (1) of a turbomachine and the guide devices of the latter, wherein guide segments (9) are cast from plastic. As a result of the manufacture of individual guide segments (9) from plastic, simple adaptation to the changing contour of the spiral and satisfactory and secure fastening can be ensured.
