The method includes the first step of responding to an adjusting signal including backlight adjusting parameters and controlling and adjusting the brightness of backlight according to the backlight adjusting parameters, the second step of adjusting the brightness of a YUV image signal in a YUV mode according to the brightness adjusting parameters when the brightness of the backlight is adjusted, the third step of converting the YUV image signal in the YUV mode to an RGB image signal in an RGB mode according to the adjusted brightness value, and the fourth step of outputting and displaying the RGB image signal obtained through conversion. Through the method, the brightness of the backlight is lowered while the brightness of the YUV image signal is adjusted. Consequently, the corresponding RGB image signal is correspondingly adjusted, and image color distortion and image display quality caused by the brightness reduction of the backlight are compensated and improved.
