no. 1 approach

[0015] The carrier for developing an electrostatic latent image according to the first embodiment of the present invention (hereinafter also simply referred to as a carrier) is composed of carrier core particles including a binder resin and magnet particles, and a shell layer covering the carrier core particles. Hereinafter, the carrier core and shell constituting the carrier, and the method for preparing the carrier will be described.

[0016] "Carrier Nuclear Particles"

[0017] Carrier core particles must contain binder resin as well as magnet particles. In addition, the carrier core particles may contain optional components other than the binder resin and magnet particles. Hereinafter, the carrier core particle of the present invention will be described in order of the binder resin and magnet particles as essential components, and the optional components other than the binder resin and magnet particles.

[0070] The two-component developer according to the second embodiment of the present invention includes a toner and the carrier for developing an electrostatic latent image according to the first embodiment. Hereinafter, the method for preparing the toner and the two-component developer will be described.

[0071] "Toner"

[0072] The toner particles contained in the toner included in the two-component developer according to the second embodiment of the present invention contain components such as a colorant, a charge control agent, and a release agent in a binder resin as necessary. The toner particles may also be substances on the surface of which external additives are attached. The toner may be composed of toner particles only, or may be composed of toner particles and components other than toner particles. Hereinafter, the method for preparing the binder resin, the colorant, the charge control agent, the release agent, the external additive, and the toner will be descri...

preparation example 1

[0117] (Preparation of magnet particles)

[0118] As magnet particles, magnetite particles surface-treated with a silane coupling agent were prepared.

[0119] In a dry atmosphere, 100 g of untreated magnetite particles (BL-220 (manufactured by Titanium Industry Co., Ltd.)) were put into a Henschel mixer (FM-10B (manufactured by Nippon Coke Co., Ltd.)) and stirred. Next, 0.5 g of a silane coupling agent (3-methacryloxypropylmethyldimethoxysilane, KBM-502 (manufactured by Shin-Etsu Chemical Co., Ltd.)) was dissolved in 10 g of toluene (special grade (Wako Co., Ltd.) Junyaku Kogyo Co., Ltd.)) surface treatment liquid. The obtained surface treatment liquid was uniformly sprayed on the stirred magnetite particles. Then, the magnetite particles wetted with the surface treatment liquid were dried under reduced pressure at normal temperature to obtain magnetite particles surface-treated with a silane coupling agent. The volume average particle diameter (D50) of the obtained surface-...

Abstract

The present invention provides a carrier for developing an electrostatic latent image and a two-component developer with improved characteristics. The carrier for developing an electrostatic latent image of the present invention is composed of carrier core particles including a binder resin and magnet particles, and a shell layer covering the carrier core particles. The acid value of the binder resin is equal to or greater than a predetermined value, and resins having carboxyl groups are included. The shell layer is composed of at least one resin selected from melamine resin and urea-formaldehyde resin. By using the carrier for developing an electrostatic latent image of the present invention, it is possible to reduce the load on the stirring unit in the developing unit included in the image forming apparatus. In addition, when the carrier for developing an electrostatic latent image of the present invention is used as a two-component developer together with a toner, it is possible to suppress the decline in the ability of the carrier to charge the toner and the reverse charge modulation during image formation for a long period of time. Occurrence of toner scattering caused by generation of toner.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a carrier and a two-component developer. Background technique [0002] Generally, in the electrophotography method, after the surface of the photosensitive drum is charged by a method such as corona discharge, it is exposed by laser light or the like to form an electrostatic latent image. The formed electrostatic latent image is developed with toner to form a toner image. A high-quality image is obtained by transferring the formed toner image to a recording medium. Usually, toner images are formed by mixing colorants, charge control agents, and release agents with binder resins such as thermoplastic resins, followed by kneading, pulverization, and classification processes, with an average particle size of 5 μm to 10 μm. The following toner particles (toner master particles). In addition, in order to impart fluidity to the toner, to impart suitable charging performance to the toner particles, or to facilitate cleaning...
